Betsy and Andy – Stan Hywet Wedding
A little rain didn’t hold us down!
I met with Betsy, her mom and sister on a cold winter day in January. Snow flurries flying, bitter cold at the the Starbucks in Brunswick. I was almost 38 weeks pregnant. Talk about a fun time! Her sister was due just after me so naturally we chatted over baby stuff as it was both our first! A boy for her and a girl for me. We all stayed warm chatting for an hour or so over all the things she had planned for her dream wedding in September. She was going to do her ceremony at Stan Hywet outside in their rolling gorgeous gardens. We talked all about how gorgeous the gardens are there and how it would make the absolute perfect venue to hold a wedding. If you know the weather in Cleveland you know it is never predictable and on that day in September that was supposed to be sunny, mild weather and gorgeous, Mother Nature had different plans for us!
The Morning
That Morning I woke up to dark skies and light rain drizzles. Hoping and praying the rain would clear in time for the mid-afternoon ceremony the skies didn’t look like there were going to cooperate with us. My first thought immediately went to Betsy and how disappointed she was going to be that the weather wasn’t perfect and just like we talked about during all the wedding planning. I immediately texted her and let her know, No matter what the weather, this day was going to be perfect! She was marrying the LOVE of her life and her best friend and we were going to have gorgeous elegant photos despite what the weather had to say. She agreed that we would make it work even if it was raining and I couldn’t have been more thrilled that she trusted me. Yes it rain, heck it actually POURED! We MADE IT WORK! These photos are proof that if you trust your photographer, have a great spirit and a bridal party that goes along with the crazy photographers ideas you can get some amazing wedding photos. Plus it’s a memory one you will always have.
The Party!
I may have looked like a wet dog at the end of this wedding but every single moment was worth it to capture the LOVE of this couple. This amazing couple. Once the portraits were done and the ceremony was over they headed to their reception and partied the night away without a care in the world that that there was rain. The rain even allowed us to get some gorgeous lovely creative night shots. The night ended with the Swenson’s food truck, with the smell of onion rings, burgers, fries and milkshakes. What a better way to end the day!
